NorCal Sentimentality

I’ve “lived” in Pleasanton for four years now, mostly just summers since I attended school in Georgia the rest of the year. Of all the things around here besides my family, I think that when I move I’ll most miss the local Chinese restaurant. It’s pretty much the only thing around to which I feel any attachment – not just because of the good food, but also because the staff are friendly and like to chat when there aren’t too many tables to attend.

I don’t feel like I’ll miss the hills, the weather, the BART ride into SF, the movie theater, or this house (I still pine for the one back in Houston). I’m not sure whether this means I have a strange attachment to Chinese food, or (more likely) that I don’t feel that there’s anybody else around here that I care to see again. Again, besides family, you can’t escape them.
